Small Town America

FAIRVIEW, OK
Latitude: 36.270513 Longitude: -98.477946

The three of us took a trip to Oklahoma! We spent Mother's Day weekend in the little town of Fairview. Little T got to visit Grandma and Grandpa Simmons and see where his Daddy grew up. It was extra special because some of Tomm's family drove up from Texas! We had a blast hanging out together... we spent a lot of the time outside, walking around getting acquainted with the small town, visiting the coffee shop on Main St (frozen caramel latte, oh my!), window shopping and going to the park. Not much had changed since the last time Tomm was there (10+ years). It was fun to hear about all of Tomm's childhood/teen stories of reeking havoc upon the little town. haha!
We had an amazing time!

We're on our way... Little T's first plane ride! He was such a great traveler!

The flight to OK wasn't full so he got his own seat. Such a big boy!
We made it safe and sound! Here we are in Fairview.
Grandma and Grandpa's beautiful house! Mom renovated and restored this house by herself!
Dad, standing by the ORIGINAL carriage step and the post where people used to tie up thier horses.
Fairview High.
The Court House.
I thought the alleys were SO cool! Everyone puts their garbage out and the garbage truck goes up and down to collect it. I'm easily impressed :)
We LOVED taking walks!
Eavesdrop much?!
We saw several holes cut into fences so that people's dogs could snoop comfortably.
Me with my wonderful parents-in-law. Little T taking a rest. haha
A closer look at his little round cheeks and curly cues. Oooh! XOXO
It sounds weird but... I loved seeing so many old cars parked around town. Florida has become a little too "Smart" for my liking.
And a nice view of the water tower and big trees that are EVERYWHERE.
Storm cellar.
A dove taking it easy in the middle of the street... it wasn't hurt, it just preferred the middle of the road.
The park!!!

Who's ready to swing on the baby swings?!!
Weeeeeee!
JOY!
They have such a bond!
Baby's first trip down the slide!.....
That face... he's so exited!
Ready, Set, GO!
Faster!!!
Let's do it again!
This little mama squirrel was very pregnant and she was busy looking for food... she was practically ignoring us as we walked by and more concerned with nourishing her babies. How sweet!
Very content and enjoying the outdoors.
This house was very cool to see. We were trying to count how many sides it had... I'm not sure which kind of polygon it was.
The library.
What do you see Muffin?
He was watching the flags flap in the wind. It was pretty!
Funky dome building.
Old school staircase.... that is an accident waiting to happen if you are one, Whitney Simmons.
Main street alley.
Main Street looking South.
and looking North.
This building was once a hotel and the tallest building in Fairview.
the backside.
Junior has his cup holders loaded up. He's more like his Dad everyday!
Cool mailbox! After seeing this I want to spice ours up somehow.
Such charm everywhere you go! Every building has a human's touch on it. After spending time in a small town, everything seems so impersonal in a larger city.
A very neat looking mural.

Another storm cellar... I can't imagine what it's like to hunker down during a storm, it would be terrifying!
Looks like this air vent has seen some weather!
Back at Grandma's house... time to play outside!
Uncle Alvin is always fun to hang out with!
Ryan (Big Tomm's nephew), Me, Tomm, Lil Tom, and Alvin.
Restin his eyes for a second.
Ok, who's ready to play?!
Alvin and Tomm taking it easy and talkin about how good they have it.
.... another walk.... Alvin, David(Tomm's bro), Ryan, and Sr & Jr
Time to cool off and get wet.
It's so glorious!
Happy baby!
I love when Grandpa pushes!
Down to the Country Kitchen.... Do you think that's code for fried green beans?
Everybody say Frog Legs!
So stylish!
Party of nine!
Mmmm mmm! We all waddled out of there. I seriously ate like a hungry dog!
Happy after a bath and in his shirt that Grandpa bought for him.
Who's ready for a game of Skipbo?
Finally, Spencer sits still long enough for me to take his picture. In all the other pictures he is just a blur or a streak.
Fairview's Historical Society... all these buildings where relocated to this area.

Fairview's old train station
An old hotel(white).
Some old farm equipment.
A closer look at the steam engine.
The caboose.
A pretty white church.
Fairview Municipal Airport. Looking down the runway.
Waking up to our first Mother's Day together!
Me and my little studmuffin!
I really miss carpet! It was so nice to plop down anywhere and play.
Three generations of Simmons.
So interested in what Dad is saying.
A picture with my beautiful pink and purple flowers.
A picture wIth MY BEAUTIFUL BOY. I'm finally a Mom!
A picture of Mom with her red roses. Happy Mother's Day!

A picture of a picture of "Bits" the cat. This was the cat that Tomm grew up with. I have heard sooo many stories that involve Bits. He was HUGE and he was full of personality.
